I know I've been MIA!

Hey ladies!

I'm so sorry that I haven't been around lately. Things with work/life have been crazy, etc, and I haven't had a spare moment to work. They are getting really facist at work about personal websites, but that's a whole other story.

Update with me....well, things are going okay. I will sadly report that I have not had a dramatic decrease of weight, but a lot of that is on me I think. Due to being so busy lately, my eating habits have gotten sloppy, plus, the hubby and I both love sweets. I am still working out 3-4 days a week, and I have noticed a much bigger muscle gain in my arms and legs, which wasn't happening before. I do think I will eventually lose the weight. I basically am going to have to undo a year of the Mirena, which is no small feat. I gained all the weight around the stomach/hip area, which is the worst part to lose. I have lost a few pounds, I can tell, but I simply need to work my butt a little harder!

Other than that, I feel wonderful! My mood is mellow, my blood pressure is back to normal, and I am loving sex and life in general all over again. My husband got a vasectomy and we're finally all clear, so I will never have to use stupid birth control EVER AGAIN.

I do read each and every comment here, and I am still appalled at how crappy this birth control is. I worry about each and every person who tells their story, and I hope that you ladies have gotten your Mirenas out and that you're seeing results. Thank you for taking the time to write, and please know that you are being heard. I hope that those of you that have written are feeling better. :)

I will be better about writing. In the meantime, keep making comments, and keep spreading the word!!

I'm so happy for you! If even one woman reads our stories and decides to get her IUD out, it's worth it. Get out, and enjoy the sunshine, and keep feeling better!

hi again, I am cathie from the March 5th comment on your previous blog. I went in on the 27th for my iud removal. I was in so much pain afterwards. I am not sure if that is from the operation they had to do to get it out or if it is because they took out the IUD. Since then I have had extreme bleeding. But the thing that I don't like is that I have a lot of clots! And really, really big ones. Did you experience any of this when you had yours removed? I am wondering if this is just my body ridding it of all the damage this stupid thing did to me. If you could shed some light I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You again and keep up the good work!!!!

I just had mine taken out 3 days ago. It was amazing how much better I felt just a few hours after. Had I put 2 and 2 together sooner, I wouldn't be at the place I am now. I gained 20 lbs in 4 months - I eat healthy, work out 6 days a week. I started having severe migraines and realized there was something to the IUD since there wasn't anything else to blame. I took out sugar, caffeine, processed foods, etc. My dr. was very supportive about taking it out (thank goodness!). So far I haven't weighed myself, but the bloatedness I felt has disappeared and my hubby even commented that my stomach looked flatter than at the beginning of the week. :)
I've told everyone I know to be careful of what meds their putting in their bodies. It can become a vicious cycle. :( Thanks for your blog, please keep posting your progress as your about 2 months ahead of me and I'm interested in your experience after with weight, mood and overall health!

Hi all! I am new to this site and I am anxious to share my experience. In 10 days, I will be having my IUD removed - yeah me! I too have gained weight since the insertion last May. I put on 13 pounds within 2 months and like many others, the weight seems to be mostly in my belly hence my 4 y.o. asking me if I'm pregnant again. I have been exercising like crazy this past month to include jogging. I have logged it all to show the doctor. I am ready for the battle should there be one regarding IUD and weight gain. Look forward to keeping you updated!

I'm 18 years old and ive had Mirena for 6 months. And it's been the worst 6 months of my life. Between the weight gain, hair loss, and depression I have come to realize that I was completely mislead into buying into this product.
Now I just want it out but I'm absolutely truamatized from how unbearingly painful the insertion was for me.
I'm lost. I'm miserable. And I don't trust anyone to get this horrible thing out. Guidance or advice?

I had my iud for about 3 years. During those three years I gained about 20lbs and have had severe migrants and acne.. I was even hospitalized for a week because I had such a bad migrane I couldn't even open my eyes. I also had a blod clot form where the iv was incerted!!! I thought that the iud would help with my mood swings and other hormonal issues. (yeah right!!) I had two miscarriages while on the iud.. Inlost my sex drive completely! My husband and I decided to try for our third child, so I had it removed on 12/10.. It's now 12/27 and IM STILL BLEEDING!!! I'm nervous because I want to try to get pregnant mid jan early feb, but am scared I'm going to have issues.. I haven't seen any stories or follow ups with women and how long it took them to stop bleeding.. If anyone has any advice I'll take it! If you're looking to get the iud I would NOT Reccomend it at all!! It has been the worse thing I could have ever done to my body!! Besdides the unnatural bleeding I'm starting to feel great after the removal. So that's a plus! Good luck to you all and wish me luck with baby number 3! Now all I can do is pray this thing didnt make it so I can't have another baby!

I have currently have Mirena; I want it OUT! My hubby isn't sure because its such an expensive device. After reading everything I know it can't be a coincedence that all our symtoms are that same and all have Mirena. Here's MY experience…
I actually wanted an iud before my 3rd pregnancy but the doc couldn't get it in because my uterus was tipped in back too far. Then I got pregnant w/ my daughter. So the 6 week check up post delivery I had the Mirena IUD inserted. December 2012. It fricken hurt so bad! I felt light headed walking out of the office in so much pain and holding back tears. I bled like a stuck pig for a week. A couple months go by and my hair is falling out in HUGE wads in the shower. Every shower I took the walls and drain was covered and plugged. I know, sickening. I chalked this up to post pardum alopecia. I've been getting acne and I used to have clear, beautiful skin. Now its so bad I get nodules. Face and scalp (which leads to more hair loss). I am a miserable person, severely depressed, constantly zoned out, EXTREME irritability, can't think straight, suicidal thoughts.
Basically, Mirena has made my ugly inside and out and I can't wait to get this beast out of my body so I can quite thinking about death all the time and enjoy my life hopefully.

Wow. I had the nasty little sucker for a week and had it removed. The ob had convinced me to get the mirena. So I tried it, and had it taken out 8 days later. I felt sick, crazy, and bled the entire time. I've had three kids and this mirena is whack. That's all I have to say.

Since I used the Mirena I started to have fungus infections, inflammation in the pelvis.I have had period at the beginning and later no more period until 5 years later. Already 2 years passed and my period is still no normal cause is spotty, brownish color. Before my period it was normal during almost 6 days but you can see bright red.My concerned is when it will be normal a bright red color.Did anyone experiment the same thing?

I had a mirena for 4 yrs b4 I had my son. I never bled after I took it out and that's that I took some pain meds and took it out myself.my period just went back to its normal cycle just a lot lighter I got the migraines but not the weight gain my hair never fell out. After I took it out it took me a yr to get pregnant again. I guess everybody reacts different to different birthcontrols.

I clot every once in a while bright red but a lot of big clots at one time but they almost look like little white hairs in them and my lower stomach hurts almost all the time sometime almost unbearable pain. Me and my husband can't hardley have sex because it is do painful and they told me I wouldn't feel a thing. Now unfortunately I can not are a dr right not do to me changing health insurance until I can find one that my insurance will cover!

I had the mirena inserted 6 weeks after my 3rd child in the 1st week of April 2015 and got my periods 2 weeks later. Even after child birth my periods would go straight back to normal after postpartum that last 1 month with all 3 children. I always had a regular 28 cycle with a 3-5 days bleeding that never missed a beat, but this time around it was different due to the mirena. I went from moderate to heavy bleeding with occasional clots that would last 3-5 days to a light bleed with bright red blood for 3 days then spotting brown blood for 2 week's. I hated this new cycle and hoped it would change back to normal, although I barely had any period pain like the bad pains I experienced before. By June/July my energy levels slowly decrease and mood swings started followed by anxiety and feeling depressed for no reason at all. This made me have very little patience and with 3 children under 2 patience is the key to keeping your cool, to be able to handle and cope with the tantrums plus those sick days. I have always been very organized and had the same routine since I gave birth to my 1st child. I also had body pains that felt like symptoms of the flew almost every day and the pain in my leg and joints were the worst, just never felt well everyday. I could no longer put up with the pain or anxiety plus not have that routine that made my days a piece of cake. So after doing research as I knew this wasn't me and it was definitely not normal to experience those pains and the anxiety most days. Being pregnant and child birth was a breeze compared to this. After research I decided to get it taken out on the 29/01/2016, got home that night and felt stabbing pains that wasn't too bad. Spotted the next night, had horrible period pains followed by bleeding the next morning, now it's been 5 days and the bleeding is still moderate and no signs it will slow down. My actual period is due around now so I'm curious what my body is going to do next. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, So it prevents pregnancy, slows down bleeding... There's more down sides then benefits. 100% not worth sides affects and more serious health issues. It seems like women are just lab experiments. Bearing children is a beautiful thing, doctors speak like it's a burden to impregnate yourself and pressure a lot of women to use the mirena as it's the best on the market with less side affects then other contraception. All lies but why? Why risk another humans health or life?
Are they uneducated about this? Yes! Why? Their doctors not a pharmacists. Seek medical advice from the doctors but always question the pharmacist about medications because their the ones who studied about medication not the doctors that diagnose your health issues. If your doctor makes you feel pressured to do something, trust your instinct, say no and seek a new doctor.

This was a previous post on another blog: Omg! Maybe I am not dying! I have had my mirena for 3 years. Four years ago I lost 180 pounds. After that first year and then coinciding with the Mirena, I have been putting on weight even though I am a member of Weight Watchers and have stuck to the program. I have gained almost 100 pounds in 3 years. I have had joint pain and stiffness but I attributed that to weight gain. Suddenly in August I felt fatigue, sore throat and muscle and joint pain. My doctor did a Lymes test and strep. Both negative. I started feeling better until one month later. I got hit 10 times worse. My muscles and joints hurt so bad I could barely walk. I spent the next week and a half in bed. I have missed lots of work. Here are my symptoms: muscle and joint pain, swelling in legs, swollen/tender lymph nodes, extreme fatigue, headaches, neck and shoulder pain, lower back pain, hair loss, general ill feeling, lightheaded, pounding in my head, memory lapse, weight fluctuation, elevated BP, crying, hopelessness, and feeling like I was dying. I have been tested for Lymes (2x), other tick illnesses, rheumatoid, anemia, Hep A,B and C, mono (2x), several other general blood test, thyroid, several urine tests, ultrasound of ovaries and uterus, ct of abdomen, pelvic exam, mammogram, Pap smear, endocrinologist, ambulance ride and ER visit and an appt with my psych med. prescriber. I'm sure I'm missing something. I feel terrible every day, I'm depressed, I cry because of the pain and feel like I'm dying. I decided to google my symptoms and Mirena and came upon this blog and many others. I called my gynecologist and tomorrow I have the mirena removed. I am worried about heavy bleeding coming back but excited to see if this horrible nightmare comes to an end.
Update: I wrote this about 6 months ago. The horrible pain in my legs and thighs is almost gone. I have more energy. I am not feeling flu-like or as achy. Some days I feel like I'm having a relapse but it goes away. I had a lot of muscle loss with the onset of this. I spent several months in physical therapy because it caused me knee problems. I still have unusual muscle pains here or there. Kind of like I was working out and then the muscle hurts when you use it. I am on thyroid medicine however my TSH levels are normal but I presented so many symptoms of Hashimotos and I do have nodules on my thyroid. My doctor always refers to me as having fibromyalgia but has not officially diagnosed me because I don't quite meet the criteria. She agreed that anything is possible when putting something foreign in your body and was in support of removing the mirena. I still have some strange things like partial eyebrow loss. But thankfully they grew back. My periods are regular but of course heavier. So far not as heavy as pre mirena. My advice is if you are ill, take it out. I can't say for positively sure that the Mirena caused my symptoms but sure does seem so and my story is like so many others.
